Radio One, the largest media company in the U.S. serving Black Americans, launched its digital division, Interactive One, in 2008. Founded thirty years ago by Cathy Hughes with a talk radio station in Washington, D.C., Radio One currently operates 53 stations in 16 markets; TV One, the fastest growing cable television network; and REACH media, the owner of the Tom Joyner Morning Show. Radio One is a public company, trading on the NASDAQ (ROIAK) and is a certified minority owned company.
Technology Drives The Mission.
The Black American audience is one of the fastest growing consumer segments online. Over 22 million Black Americans are on the Internet and usage is disproportionately high – nearly 10% higher than the general market.
Yet, the Black community continues to be underserved online, with limited sites and services available. However, that is quickly changing. Interactive One was founded to connect, inform, entertain, and inspire the entire Black community by providing the best online products, programming, and services.
