John Chambers

John Chambers is a social marketing/communications/advocacy expert. He brings more than 14 years of experience building communities around social justice causes and campaigns and affecting positive opinion and behavior change around global health and development issues.

As senior vice president at GMMB, a full-service cause marketing and advertising firm, he has directed accounts for the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation’s Financial Services for The Poor and Global Libraries Initiatives; the Fetzer Institute’s Lincoln Leadership Series Congressional Roundtable; the UN Foundation’s Nothing But Nets campaign; Casey Family Programs; the Air Bag & Seat Belt Safety Campaign’s national Click It Or Ticket mobilization; Fannie Mae Foundation’s Read Out Loud adult literacy campaign; the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation’s Faith In Action program; the Justice at Stake Campaign; the ONE Campaign’s Live 8 concert in Philadelphia; and Donna Edwards for Congress (D-MD). In addition to leading overall communications strategy for clients, John has also developed creative, written scripts, and directed radio and TV commercials.

John is also a co-founder of CauseChange, a grassroots organization that uses art and artists to inspire interest and action to support local and global social justice causes and organizations. John is also the owner of BloomBars, a community art space, which also seeks to be a bridge between the art, music, film, theater and social justice communities.

John’s community service work includes serving as President of the Board of Directors for the United Movement to End Child Soldering (UMECS), which sponsors secondary and higher education for former child soldiers and formerly abducted children living in IDP camps in Northern Uganda war zones. He also serves on the board of the Black Administrators in Child Welfare (BACW), the Board of Trustees for Solebury School in New Hope, PA, and the advisory board of Reach for College.
